From 2019 to 2021, homicide alone surged 49% in Arizona while one in every 41 Arizona residents will be the victim of property crime. We simply cannot afford for law enforcement to have fewer resources when they are already facing such drastic crime increases. <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap;">HB 2120 is a necessary safeguard to stop this reckless agenda from endangering Arizona families. Protect Police Budgets & Public Safety - Support HB 2120

A fringe movement is spreading nationwide to dismantle and defund police departments. Their dangerous agenda has already allowed violent crime to soar in cities that gutted law enforcement.

Arizona has seen a 49% spike in homicides from 2019 to 2021 alone, and out of all the cities in America, only 4% are more dangerous to live in than Phoenix. 1 in every 41 Arizonians will be the victim of property crime. It’s not hard to believe that we are the 10th most dangerous state in the country.

We cannot allow that extreme attack on public safety to come to Arizona. That's why it's imperative to pass HB 2120. The Senate MAPS Committee will be voting on this bill on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM.

This critical legislation:

Prohibits any municipality from reducing their annual law enforcement budget
Requires cities/towns to fully fund police year-over-year at minimum
Allows the state to withhold revenue sharing funds from localities that violate this law

By protecting police budgets, HB 2120 ensures our communities have the resources for effective public safety. Our law enforcement deserves full backing, not reckless defunding.
